This September 30th and October 1st, Downtown Beaufort’s streets will be overflowing with autumn cheer, family-friendly fun, and lots and lots of shrimp. The Beaufort Shrimp Festival is a local favorite that celebrates the Lowcountry’s flavorful cuisine with two full days of entertainment. What to Expect at the Beaufort Shrimp Festival

No matter which day you visit the Beaufort Shrimp Festival, you will find a multitude of things to do! Purchase your food and beverage tickets at the front and let the celebration begin!

Restaurant Competition

15 local restaurants will be preparing their best shrimp dishes for the chance to win the Silver Cup award! You will also have the chance to put in your own vote for the "People’s Choice Award for Best Shrimp Dish.” It’s a great way to support local eateries while enlightening your taste buds.

Sea Island Rotary’s Rubber Shrimp Race

The Rubber Shrimp Race is as silly as it sounds, but in a good way! Rubber shrimp riding in inner tubes are released into the Beaufort River from an authentic shrimp trawler. From here, they ride the currents along the wall at Henry Chambers Waterfront Park to the finish line. The first shrimp across the line is the champion and wins it’s adopter $2,000! Beaufort Shrimp Festival 5K Run and Popcorn Shrimp Run

Shrimp aren’t the only ones racing at this festival! Lace on your running shoes for the 5K Bridge Run and Popcorn Shrimp Run! You’ll blaze the trails through Downtown Beaufort, travel tree lined streets, and cross the famous Woods Memorial Bridge. You must be registered to race by Thursday, September 29th at 11:59 p.m. The race begins on Saturday, October 1st at 8 a.m.

Local Craft Market

Over 50 vendors will be present at the festival selling lovely handmade crafts that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. The best part is that the items were all created by the vendors themselves! It’s the perfect opportunity to find souvenirs and gifts for your friends back home.

Friday Night Concert

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for an evening of live music in the park! Although the entertainment in still in the process of selection for this year, past events have featured the talents of local Motown, pop, rock, and reggae bands. For the perfect ending to a fabulous day, decoratively lit shrimp boats will line up down the river, providing a lovely backdrop for a full evening of relaxation and music.
