Heritage and Easter Collide

Hilton Head Island is a popular tourist destination attracting 2.5 million visitors annually and contributing significantly to the local economy, generating over $1.5 billion each year. Our visitors typically stay for about 5-7 days with the busiest times are during the summer and spring break (March to April).  This weekend is one of the busiest weekends of all – the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament at Harbour Town and Easter weekend!  Though the island offers a variety of accommodations, including hotels, vacation rentals (like Beachside Getaway offers!) and resorts, with over 40,000 available units, this upcoming weekend (4/18-4/20/25) promises to be one of the busiest, crowded weekends on record on Hilton Head. Does all of that make your head spin when you just want to have a really relaxing vacation?

Here are our tips to maximize your vacation and time on Hilton Head Island during Heritage and Easter 2025!

Travel Off-Peak Hours: Try to arrive early in the morning or later in the evening when traffic is lighter, especially if you are visiting the beaches.  Visit our latest blog post on the parking changes, visitors of Hilton Head Island are now required to pay for parking at our public beaches.  Get there early!

Use Bicycles: If you're close to your destination, consider biking instead of driving to avoid traffic altogether, especially if you are staying within Sea Pines or near Coligny Plaza.

Visit lesser known beaches on Hilton Head Island, like Folly Field Beach. Everyone tends to think of Coligny Plaza and South Forest Beach when it comes to Beach time on Hilton Head Island but consider visiting another beach on HHI.  This will reduce parking headaches and shoulder to shoulder packed spaces on the beach.

Cook at Home:  Though many people don’t think of cooking on vacation as part of the vacation, consider that cooking meals at your vacation rental on Hilton Head Island during Heritage week and Easter weekend might be a less stressful option.   Many of our vacation rental properties have outdoor grills, even outdoor kitchens, and pools/spas that you and your family and friends can gather around. This could be a whole lot better than going out anyway!

Use Meal-Delivery options like Uber Eats / Instacart / Door Dash: Using a meal delivery service is a great way to have delicious food at your fingertips without a lot of work. Be sure you are a member to one of these services and sign-in in the 29928 zip code to see your available options. We are partial to Mi Tierra (Mexican), Asian Bistro (Chinese/Japanese), Ruan Thai (Thai), Okko (Japanese), and many more for Door Dash.  You will find a host options!

Make Reservations.  Be sure to make reservations where available. Many Hilton Head Island restaurants take reservations so if you want to dine out, be sure to visit their website, use Resy, or OpenTable.

Visiting the RBC Heritage?  If you are attending the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament, be sure you have a valid ticket (can be purchased on the website here: https://rbcheritage.com/spectators)   Guests are required to present a valid digital ticket to enter Tournament grounds and may proceed through the gates once a valid scan has been registered. Each spectator will receive a ticket to wear. Children under the age of 15 are free and do not require a ticket to attend so long as they are attending with a ticketed adult.

Most of all, it’s important to have as much patience as possible when visiting Hilton Head during this busy time of year.  You are already aware it will be busy. Grab your favorite cocktail or turn on your favorite tunes, enjoy Island life and your vacation – you’re on Hilton Head Island!
