Spending Christmas on Hilton Head Island: A Festive Coastal Getaway

Over the next few weeks, Hilton Head Island transforms with twinkling white lights adorning palm trees, holiday decorations gracing local shops, and seasonal events bringing the community together. There are a variety of holiday events that take place throughout November and December. Here are some activities to consider!

HOLIDAY KICK OFF 

November 16th at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. https://www.artshhi.com/special-events/holiday-kick-off . The Arts Center welcomes residents and visitors alike to the Town's Official Holiday Kick-Off Festival on Saturday, November 16 from 12:00 - 3:00pm.  Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive in style on an antique fire truck to visit with children throughout the festival, held on the Arts Center grounds. The day is filled with holiday entertainment from local groups, arts and crafts for all ages, delicious treats from food trucks, a wonderful Art Market featuring the creations of local artisans (great for buying gifts and supporting local at the same time), and a performance from cast members of the Arts Center’s 42nd Street!

HOLIDAY LIGHT DISPLAYS:

The island is famous for its dazzling light displays. Drive or walk through the neighborhoods, where residents and businesses alike deck their properties with colorful lights and festive decorations. Be sure to visit:  

  • Harbour Town Lights 
  • Holiday Lights at Shelter Cove 
  • South Beach Marina Christmas Village 
  • Dove Street, Hilton Head 
  • Shelter Cove Towne Center 
  • Hilton Head Fire & Rescue Station #3 – 534 William Hilton Parkway. Over 14,000 vehicles drive through to see! 

CHRISTMAS MARKETS: 

Local artisans and vendors set up charming markets where you can find handmade gifts, seasonal treats, and unique decorations. These markets offer a perfect opportunity to support local businesses while finding special gifts for loved ones. 

  • November 16th and 17th, join the Holiday Craft Fair at Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Report (40 Folly Field Road) 
  • Carolina Jasmine’s 1st Annual Holiday Market, Main Street Village: 1521 Main Street. Carolina Jasmine's 1st Annual Holiday Market, where the spirit of the season meets the artistry of our local community! This unique event will take place on December 19th, 2024 at Main St. Village. Explore a diverse array of handcrafted goods as we proudly showcase talented local artists, creators, live entertainment & 4 Holiday Workshops.

HOLIDAY CONCERTS AND PERFORMANCES:

The island’s cultural scene thrives during the holidays, with various concerts and performances showcasing local talent. Check out: 

  • Lean Ensemble’s, “ A Christmas Carol” from December 12 – 22nd: https://www.leanensemble.org
  • The Nutcracker, Hilton Head Dance Theater, beginning November 15 for 6 shows over 2 weekends: https://www.hiltonheaddance.com
  • December 4 – December 29:  The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina: 42nd Street, https://www.artshhi.com. Set in the 1930s, aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer comes to the big city and soon lands her first big job in the ensemble of a glitzy new Broadway show. Can she make it in the big city? 
  •  Hilton Head Choral Society: December 13, 2024 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, First Pres. Church. Join the Hilton Head Choral Society for “A Night Divine” their holiday concert on Friday, December 13 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC. Get into the spirit of the season at this annual community performance with heart-warming music sure to bring joy and smiles!

CHRISTMAS DINING
