The New & Improved Tiki Hut on Hilton Head Island

The Tiki Hut has been serving locals and visitors on Hilton Head Island since 1977 but with its prime real estate and iconic location, the recent 13 million renovation has revitalized this hotspot and poised the restaurant, pool, and live music venue to be THE #1 destination on Hilton Head Island this summer 2024.  When planning your vacation to Hilton Head Island, you will want to put the Tiki Hut on your list!

You may have been here before. The scene is longstanding locals (and brave tourists) playing  beach volleyball.  The tiki bar is lined elbow to elbow with dozens (sometimes hundreds) clamoring for a drink. A pool – but part of the Holiday Inn – where Tiki Hut visitors aren’t really supposed to swim.  Live bands play but sometimes it’s hard to see. That was the old Tiki Hut.

Meet the new and improved Tiki Hut. After it’s $13 Million dollar renovation (yes, you read that number right!), the Tiki Hut has a gutted pool for visitors to swim. It’s been completely redone to be larger and includes a large pool deck that is outfitted with cabanas. The cabanas will be available to rent and include chairs, sofas, televisions, and a mini-fridge.  The Tiki Bar counter itself has been expanded by a whopping 10 feet! (Maybe you won’t be elbow to elbow…)

The Tiki Hut is the only establishment on Hilton Head to boast live music on the beach and the newly constructed stage will accommodate up to three live bands a day, seven days a week during the summer (weather permitting!) You can visit their calendar of events right here: https://www.tikihuthhi.com/hilton-head-events

When it comes to food, the reimagined Tiki Hut has upped its game with cuisine.  Casual fare will be abundant but with a flair.  Enjoy hot wings, salads, pulled pork nachos, and of course – seafood! Beachside bites include items like coconut shrimp, frozen grapes, and buffalo chicken fries.  You can munch on shrimp tacos, fried green BLT, or a smoked chicken sandwich.  There’s even a children’s menu for the little ones.

The Polynesian style tiki roof, giving it its namesake, was created by a company who specializes in this type of construction.  Palm fronds are meticulously woven into large timbers previously constructed.  The new Tiki Hut is impressive!

When it comes to parking, you will want to park at the public parking lot that’s across the street from South Forest Beach Road, or near Lowcountry Celebration Park. Watch carefully for permit only parking areas.  It’s first come, first serve so get there early!  If your vacation rental on Hilton Head Island is located in South Forest or North Forest Beach, consider riding your bike or just walking to avoid the crowded parking lots.

Be sure to check out the menu and the event calendar to see who’s playing.  Visit: https://www.tikihuthhi.com/hilton-head-bars to learn more about the new Tiki Hit on Hilton Head Island.
