The Barmuda Triangle on Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head’s most thriving nightlife spot goes by the colloquial name: the Barmuda Triangle!  Once only having three restaurants and bars (hence the “triangle”), this development now has 6 places you can go for eating and drinking.  Set beside Greenwood Drive, very close to the Sea Pines traffic roundabout, the official name is The Hilton Head Plaza. These establishments are popular among tourists and locals alike within the Barmuda triangle.  People love it because you can bar hop from one spot to the next. Everything is within walking distance, and it flows easily. Each has a different vibe, and they are all great! There is truly something for everyone here.

Having done this a time or two......Beachside Getaway can recommend hitting all the BarMuda establishments in this order :

START AT:

Hilton Head Brewing Company

Open Daily from 12-9

https://www.hhbrewingco.com

Love beer? This is your place! This is Hilton Head Island’s first brewery! It has 16 different beers on tap. Can’t decide? Choose a flight of beer and get four 4 oz. pours for just $11.50. They also have light bites and snacks like pretzels and a variety of chips and dips. Start your Barmuda Triangle visit with a flight of beers and a pretzel at Hilton Head Brewery.

THEN GO:

Reilley’s Grill & Bar

www.reilleyshiltonhead.com

Open daily 11am to 2am.

Once you’ve worked up your appetite, visit Reilley’s for dinner. Reilley’s claims to be the island’s Green Bay Packers headquarters! With dark oak wood interior, you get an old school vibe here that is loved by many. Their outdoor bar seating has plenty of TV’s to catch whatever game or event is on and is covered in case of weather. They have great steaks and seafood and often have live music. Check out their events: https://reilleyshiltonhead.com/hilton-head-island-reilley-s-plaza-reilley-s-grill-and-bar-events. Once food service is over (10:00 PM), the bar gets cranking until 1:30 AM!! But you may want to hop to the next....

One Hot Mama’s

www.onehotmamas.com

Hilton Head Menu: https://onehotmamas.com/menu/

Open daily 11:30am to 1am

From delicious baby-back ribs, authentic pit-to-plate BBQ, hand-cut steaks, char-grilled chicken, the world’s best wings, salads and more, it doesn’t get better than One Hot Mama’s! If this is more your style, we highly recommend dinner here.

This restaurant is full of Southern Charm and personality.  It also turns into a late-night bar venue when the dinner service is over, on many nights with a live DJ! Executive Chef and Managing Partner, Orchid Paulmeier, is the star of One Hot Mamas and was on the Food Network! You may just see her around the restaurant.

THEN GO TO:

The Lodge

www.hiltonheadlodge.com

An island staple for more than 30 years, The Lodge is home to great martinis, specialty cocktails, wine, and beer.  Aside from the typical bar scene, there are bar games like shuffle board, pool, and darts in this hunting lodge themed bar. They serve burgers and dozens of beers on tap.  This is great for after-dinner.  This is perhaps the most “upscale” of all the places to eat/drink at the Barmuda Triangle – but on Hilton Head Island, that’s still very casual.

Brother Shuckers Bar & Grill

https://www.brothershuckershhi.com

Live Music 7 Nights A Week – Brother Shuckers also is the only real “Raw Bar” on HHI

Food is served 3:00 PM – 12 AM and Bar is open until 2 AM so it’s a great late-night venue. (Note: They also have a Happy Hour from 3:30 -6:30 PM)

Choose from oyster shooters, broiled or steamed oysters, peel & eat shrimp, and non-seafood items like filet beef tips and herb roasted chicken.  Their live music scene is great and the crowd is often there late (it closes at 2 PM).  If you have already eaten at one of the others, no problem -- the music and bar scene is just enough! They get great acts and have a porch deck where the late night crowd hangs out.

The Board Room

Where executive decisions are made… and then forgotten!

https://www.theboardroomlive.com

This is most definitely a late night spot with excellent live music. Serving up all the classics, beer, wine, and liquor drinks, they also have an interesting cocktail menu: https://www.theboardroomlive.com/menu.  This is sure to be a late crowd and an experience that you will want to have towards the end of the night.  If you like nightlife and live music, make sure the Boardroom is on your list!

There you have it -- a nightlife scene that rivals many other places in the country.  It gets very crowded in the summer so you may just want to go where you can get a spot.

Don't forget to get home responsibily. Uber & Lyft do serve the area but we also recommend jotting down these taxi cab companies just in case you are having trouble getting an Uber or Lyft.   Get home safe!

  • Diamond Taxi, Hilton Head Island: (843) 247-2156
